When asked to describe Thai food one usually says "It's hot and spicy". Actually there is no single adjective to describe the basic characteristic taste of Thai food which comes from a mixture of salt and pepper, garlic and coriander root pounded together. It is this aromatic combination that turns fried pork or fried chicken into Thai fried pork and Thai fried chicken not Chinese fried pork or American fried chicken. Also a large number of herbs, spices, leaves, roots and even flowers are widely used for their aromatic qualities. These include lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, and of course chillies large and small, from bright red to dull green. Another essential ingredient in Thai cooking is the coconut it's milk or cream  blending together with the other ingredients to give a smooth creamy base.        
       
      A typical Thai meal consists of steamed rice with many different dishes. The dishes are not courses, and they are all served at the same time. take a spoonful of one dish with some rice, then a spoonful of another dish with some rice and enjoy the different taste and texture of each dish. It soon becomes clear that Thai cuisine is unique and not merely a regional adaptation of Chinese or Indian cooking.
